Where is Mijas Pueblo?
Mijas Pueblo is located a 15-minute drive north of Fuengirola. The village is also reachable via a 25-minute bus ride from Fuengirola.
You won’t regret taking a day trip to the town, or even making it your headquarters for exploring the region.
The town is located on a mountain slope and offers stunning views of the Mediterranean. Its proximity to the coast makes it easy to plan trips between the two destinations.
If you’re flying into the large city of Malaga, Mijas Village is a 30-minute drive away. The bus ride from Malaga takes about an hour and 15 minutes. Both English and Spanish are spoken widely across the village.

How To Get to Mijas Pueblo From Fuengirola & Malaga
If you’re not driving, you can easily get to Mijas Pueblo by public bus. The Costa del Sol offers multiple bus lines that span the region, giving you an affordable, reliable way to get around. Mijas de Pueblo is located 25 minutes away from Fuengirola by bus, and a little over an hour’s bus ride away from Malaga.
If you’re driving, you may want to look into car rentals in Fuengirola, as well as in Malaga. Malaga offers car rentals at the airport and across the city, but prices may be steep. Consider taking the train from the airport or city to Fuengirola and booking a car there to save money.
If you are driving from Malaga, it will take you about half an hour to get directly to Mijas Pueblo. The same is true for the drive to Fuengirola. If you don’t want to drive but want to get there faster, hopping in a cab from Malaga is another option.
Things to do in Mijas Pueblo

1. Parque la Muralla
Doubling as a botanical garden, the town’s Parque la Muralla features scenic views of both the Mediterranean and the slopes behind Mijas Pueblo. Using footpaths, guests can wander among the plants, enjoying expansive views along the way.
This is a great spot to take pictures on clear days or enjoy the sunset. The park is within walking distance of the town centre, as well as its hotels, restaurants, and more.
2. Mijas Contemporary Art Centre
Mijas is known for its robust arts community, and visitors can spend an entire day admiring local work. The Mijas Contemporary Art Centre is a great place to start. Small and intimate, the art centre features contemporary artwork that includes pieces by Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali.

5. Plaza de Toros de Mijas
Over a century old, the Plaza de Toros de Mijas is a worthwhile stop on a walking tour of Mijas Pueblo. Built-in an oval, the ring is next to a small museum featuring artefacts from the area’s bullfighting history. The Plaza de Toros hosts a variety of events, so be sure to keep an eye on the schedule.
6. Mirador del Compas
